Refugees and migrants continue to arrive in eastern Turkey through irregular routes, using the country as a key transit point on their journey toward Europe. Many come from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, fleeing conflict, insecurity, and economic hardship in search of better opportunities.
The eastern province of Ağrı is one of the main entry points for those crossing into Turkey. Migrants often travel long distances under difficult conditions, facing dangerous terrain, harsh weather, and uncertain futures along the route.
According to Turkish authorities, nearly 20,000 migrants entered the country illegally during the previous three months. At the same time, the government has increased efforts to control irregular migration, deporting at least 7,000 Afghan nationals back to Kabul.
Turkey remains at the center of regional migration movements, balancing border security measures with the challenges posed by growing numbers of people seeking safety and a path to Europe.
